Let's Talk Collagen

Let's Talk Collagen

Changes in your skin's look and feel as you age can be daunting, but we've got the expertise and resources to help you nourish your skin and feel your best self.
Premature ageing can have a significant impact on feeling your best It can be caused by a number of factors including genetics, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors, including excessive exposure to sun light and high stress levels.

Improving your skin quality and overall health can have a huge impact on the way you look, and also on the way you feel.

COLLAGEN

Collagen plays a vital role in maintaining healthy and youthful skin. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.

Fortunately, DNTL Code offers several ways to increase collagen production and improve the skin’s appearance.

BIOSTIMULATORS

Biostimulators are the ‘new kids on the block’ in terms of injectables. Launched in Italy in 2015, Biostimulators sold out multiple times since the Australian launch in the second half of 2022, and after trying it, we think the results make it easy to understand why it is such a popular treatment.

Before launching the treatment at DNTL Code, owner and director, Dr. Steph tested the treatment for herself when it first arrived in Australia. She said,

“It is one of my favourite treatments to improve the overall quality of the skin whilst providing completely natural results. It will definitely be something I will maintain every 6 months.”

WHAT IS A BIOSTIMULATOR?

As the name suggests, it is a product that rejuvenates the skin by stimulating the collagen and elastin, helping to improve firmness, hydration and texture.

Biostimulators are made with a unique formulation of a naturally occurring substance in the body called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA helps to hydrate and lubricate the tissues, as well as promote skin cell growth and rejuvenation. Biostimulators do not add volume to the tissue, rather improve the quality and reduce skin laxity and signs of ageing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The biostimulator is injected in a specific pattern to allow an even spread through the skin leading to improvement in overall skin quality. Typically injected in two sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart, the results typically last up to 6 months, at which the treatment can be repeated.

IS IT SAFE?

Biostimulators are considered a safe and effective treatment option for all individuals looking to improve the quality and appearance of their skin. To date, there have been no reported adverse effects.

Another treatment dubbed the ‘non-surgical face lift’ is Radiofrequency Microneedling.

RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) MICRONEEDLING

Radiofrequency Microneedling is a low-risk treatment with minimal down time for skin lifting, tightening and rejuvenation.

RF Microneedling can deliver energy at various depths, so treatments can be tailored to address each patient’s individual concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, skin texture, enlarged pores, photoaging, stretch marks and surgical scars, at the depth required.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL MICRONEEDLING AND RF-MICRONEEDLING

Traditional microneedling triggers your body’s natural wound-healing process, which induces collagen production. In comparison to RF-microneedling which actually stimulates collagen production in and of itself because the RF energy can reach deeper layers of the skin.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

Initially, a course of two to four treatments would be recommended to see effective results.

After the treatment, the body’s own resources are activated completely naturally, collagen production kickstarts, and you will experience increased firmness, volume and elasticity in the skin over the next few months.

Here you can see the improvement of fine lines, acne scarring and general skin quality after receiving RF microneedling.

SKINCARE PRODUCTS THAT INCREASE COLLAGEN PRODUCTION

A few key products such as Retinoids, Vitamin C and Peptides help to increase collagen in your skin, whilst Sun Protection helps to slow down the reduction of collagen.

The most effective product to stimulate collagen production are retinoids, a type of vitamin A derivative commonly used to promote collagen production. It works by increasing cell turnover and stimulating production of new collagen fibres. Retinoids can also help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture and tone, and increase the skin’s overall radiance.

DNTL Code offers Biostimulators, RF Microneedling and a range of medical-grade skincare from Aspect Dr and Cosmedix.
